Our Story

Six generations of family, one extraordinary farm

Est. 1881

More Than a Venue. A Living Legacy.

In 1881, a family put down roots on this land in the heart of Niagara's Wine Country. They built the barn — still standing today, still draped in ivy, still the most photographed spot on the estate. They tended the soil, shaped the orchards, and passed the land forward, generation by generation, with the same care.

Six generations later, the farm has been reimagined as Sorella 1881 — a wedding and event estate that honours everything that came before it while welcoming new love stories into its history.

"Sorella" is the Italian word for sister — a name that speaks to the bonds of family, friendship, and belonging that this land has always inspired. We believe a wedding should feel like the most genuine version of who you are together. That belief shapes everything we do here.

The Sorella Philosophy

What We Believe

The Pillars of Sorella

Heartfelt Hospitality

We prioritize warmth over formality and presence over perfection. When you're at Sorella, you're welcomed as family — not as a client. Our team is here because they love what happens at this farm, and it shows in every interaction.

Living History

The barn is real. The orchard is real. The history is real. We don't build sets or apply artificial patina — we preserve and honour what time has built here. Your celebration takes place within a story that stretches back over a century.

The Niagara Spirit

This is Wine Country — a region that understands that the best things take time and are shaped by their environment. Our food, our flowers, and our philosophy are all deeply rooted in Niagara. There is no Sorella without this land.

Culinary Partner

La Dolce Sera

The name means "the sweet evening" — and that is exactly what La Dolce Sera creates at every Sorella wedding. Our in-house culinary team crafts farm-to-table menus that celebrate the extraordinary produce of the Niagara region, served with care and artistry.

Every menu begins with a conversation about you — your tastes, your traditions, your guests. From there, La Dolce Sera builds a culinary experience that feels like it belongs entirely to your evening.
