Our Journey to “I Do” at Sorella 1881
As the calendar turns to 2025, we’re kicking off the year with an exciting personal milestone: Jason and I (Hayley) are getting married at Sorella 1881 this July! Our wedding will be more than just a celebration of our love; it will be a moment of reflection, gratitude, and pride as we see the transformation of this property come full circle.
When Jason and I first met almost eight years ago, I couldn’t have imagined the journey we’d embark on together. Funny enough, Jason lived just down the street from me when he was playing hockey for the Niagara Ice Dogs. When he first came to the farm, he loved it immediately. For me, being a farm girl, this property has always held a special place in my heart, with different parts of it feeling unique and meaningful for different reasons. That connection is what makes Sorella 1881 so special to both of us today.
One of my favorite spots on the farm has always been the big pond past the vineyards, before the pear orchards. I would often sit by the pond, watching my dogs swim and play in the water. It was my daily retreat, a place of peace and reflection. Now, as we plan our wedding, we’re showcasing new areas of the property—including some that have never been used in the way we’ll be using them for our celebration. It’s thrilling to reimagine these spaces and share them in a fresh, meaningful way.
Over the past few years, we’ve poured our hearts into Sorella 1881, transforming it into an exclusive estate that feels like a retreat from the everyday. Inspired by our love for high-end travel and wellness-focused escapes, we wanted this property to reflect everything that is important to us. From the luxury accommodations to the thoughtfully reimagined historic 1881 barn, every element has been designed to offer a seamless blend of elegance, tranquility, and connection to nature.
When you step foot on Sorella 1881, you feel history, love, and a deep sense of grounding—the true essence of life on this farm. Whether it’s enjoying the serenity of the vineyards, taking in the beauty of the pear orchards, or retreating to the private corners of the property, every space invites you to slow down, connect, and experience the natural world in a meaningful way.
For us, Sorella 1881 has always been about family. The name itself, “Sorella,” meaning “sister” in Italian, is a tribute to my late sister Katelyn, whose spirit and memory inspire everything we do. It’s fitting that our wedding day will take place on the same grounds where countless other couples have begun their married lives, surrounded by loved ones and the beauty of nature.
Planning our own wedding here has given us a unique perspective on what it’s like to be one of our couples. From envisioning how we’ll use the Terrace for our cocktail hour to crafting the perfect flow between The Courtyard and the 1881 barn, this process has been both inspiring and humbling. We’re reminded daily of the incredible trust our couples place in us to make their day as special as it can be, and we’re more committed than ever to ensuring Sorella 1881 remains a place where dreams come true.
As we countdown to our wedding day, we’ll be sharing glimpses of the planning process and behind-the-scenes moments with you. From selecting decor to finalizing the menu, every decision is a labor of love—not just for our big day but for what Sorella 1881 represents to all who gather here.
